Today, Tomorrow, and Last Friday
Tomorrow's bento features large sushi rolls with green tea soba (tossed w/peanut sauce) rolled in crushed peanuts, carrots, yogurt, pears, raisins, and a small pineapple cake. I sampled the ends of the rolls and they were realllllly yummy, if I do say so myself!

For today, I made three bentos -- one for the hubs then 2 disposable bento boxes for my friend Jason and me. Jason has been visiting us from DC and I gave him his to eat while he waited for his plane today. I ate mine balanced on my lap driving home from LAX in traffic. As you can see, I crammed a lot of stuff in:

A small mango pudding, cashews, carrots, crackers (wrapped in foil), oranges, small chocolates, raisins, cheese (for the crackers), dessert sushi, blueberries, and tomatoes. The dessert sushi had chocolate sweet rice with honey roasted peanuts and the filling was dried bananas and peanut butter. I used plain soy paper to wrap the roll. Finally, I neglected to post the bento on Friday, so here it is:

Inside out rolls with green tea soba, carrots, and cucumber with pears cooked in Chambord, cashews, and Walky-Walky.

Bento of the future
Monday my camera was acting awful and the pictures of my DELICIOUS chile rice rolls with strawberry-chile sauce came out horribly. Today, leftover pizza for lunch, haha. But tomorrow's bento was photogenic so here it is:

Veggie sushi (carrot, avocado, cucumber, shiitake, and tamago) in inside out rolls with toasted black sesame seeds and hot sauce. Yummy! Dates, cashews, oranges, and strawberry Pocky to accompany.

Lucky Star 5 Release Bento!
Here's the bento I made to celebrate the US release of Lucky Star disc 5! Star theme, obviously, and I cut out "Lucky Star" in Kanji from soy paper. I resisted doing a Konata bento because I thought it would take too long and I didn't have much time -- I probably could have done her in the time it took to cut out the Kanji (x2 because I did it for the hubby's bento, too!). Rice molds with umeboshi seasoning surrounded by edamame, sweet omelet, and veggie bacon. Top tier has carrot stars with peanut sauce, cashews, and a little chocolate (the star bottle has soy sauce for my rice). Later today I'll make chocolate cornets to take to anime night, yay!!

First Bento of 2009
A fresh start to bento-making! I have renewed interest in bentos and hopefully in blogging! Here's the first effort of the year -- lunch for the hubs' first day back at work after break. In the bottom tier I used my new mini rice molds and made little rice shapes with tamago, carrots with mustard, or plum seasoning. I included a little bottle of soy sauce, some chili sauce, and some ginger. The top tier has chile-mangos, Walky Walky (basically little Pocky bites), apples cooked in Grand Marnier, some raw cashews, and edamame with furikake (not just for rice anymore). I'll eat my bento watching Lucky Star (disc 5 out tomorrow!). :o)
